Ahhh my first Guerlain...initial impressions was something I have commonly found among Guerlain. All the Starbound Item ID starting with A. AA Battery – smallbattery; AA Battery Pack – batterypackAAback This literally does. The opening and early dry down of this fragrance had me convinced that I did not have a beast on my hands. I'm finding (for me, so far) all the JP Guerlain men's fragrances are like a stormy relationship...in reverse, and all over in a day or so. After reading all of your reviews I finally decided to buy Habit Rouge EDT by Guerlain. The opening made me think of an asphyxiating antique shop walled in thick red velvet and run by a decrepit Russian princess, of a moth-eaten velvet smoking jacket, or even--sorry--of a funeral parlor. I've just received my HR EDT and checked the codes. Quality, sillage and longevity very good. The opening accord is really amazing. You just may find enjoyment in the exquisite and subtle beauty of this masterpiece from fragrant history. This is for me a warm weather fragrance. A yellow dressinggown, ungirdled, was sustained gently behind him on the mild morning air. Does anybody get ginger note in the opening? Considering how very favourably this EdT has been reviewed here, I expected to at least like it. This is not a full review, but WOW! There is a huge citrus in its opening that really blasts the rose but in such a fresh way not usually a fan of this kind of rose but it smells so fresh and natural..takes me back to when i was growing up walking past one of my mother's rosebushes when they were in full bloom! Recently I started to get into so called" mans fragrance" because the ones for woman simply are too sweet for me. Mossy canvas with a lovely powdery, vanilla, incense cloud. Wow.! not suitable for younger generation. I can't wear this but I love to smell it on a man. No safe blind buy imho. Truly remarkable. For sure at this price it is a must for the collection, guerlain quality and dries down to a very nice incense kind of smell, my first three guerlain scents are this, vetiver and ideal cologne, this house is impressing me massively so far, looking forward to my sample of l'l'intense de guerlain edt in the post, its great to have the excitement of finding new gems let alone a whole house with so many good scents. But it is. I guess that its awesomeness is timeless and Guerlain has done a good job keeping it like that. Not a sweet fragrance like many today. So, I will just give its performance on me. Recently purchased a decant and a Habit Rouge sample was an option for a gift. Tried it a few times so far and the most dominating is the wet powdery note that smells too feminine and "old" (not in a good way). Actually, it's too "pretty" to be a distinctively masculine fragrance. It is mature without feeling dated or old. I do not get any leather; at least not realistic, new shoe leather. Also it is less dirty and smoky. But I need to scrub it off now because the weird wet old citrus powder smell makes me nauseate and want to throw up. The composition is based on the harmony of fresh and intense citruses in the top (lime, orange and bergamot) and warm oriental balsamic notes in the base. It gives me a headache at first and only when it settles down to that lovely vanilla base do I really feel comfortable with it. Can't quit sniffing. Master piece, Gem, sophisticated and Aristocratic. To truly appreciate this timeless fragrance, pay attention during the drydown it is a fascinating transformation. i am surprized no one compared this to Egoiste by Chanel. YSL M-7 Fresh started it all for me. The fragrance is fresh, herbal, slightly spicy, semisweet & smoky, in short - casual & sophisticated. Having obtained the EDT, I must say I prefer it. It's like a big citrus-floral blanket has been wrapped around you. As far as seasons go this one shines in cold weather and I’ll never wear it during summer. I like Habit Rouge - I just wish it could be tweaked slightly and then it would be perfect for me. They're both so gorgeous I don't care, though. Today I received my blind bought bottle of Habit Rouge edt (batch code:8B01) and this is my fifth Guerlain since I started collecting fragrances. Very good performance and overall excellent smell. And Maison Guerlain magic. My favourite perfume house. Then it calms down after fifteen or twenty minutes and becomes very sublime. On the cusp of my forties I find that sometimes I want to not act my age or at least appear like I am not my age and it is usually expressed through my clothing. This one is not linear at all. Now this is ... different. It's so beautiful. I think it needed myrrh and more vanilla to round it out. This was a blind buy after seeing a bunch of reviews on YouTube. sometimes I realize that I have some beautiful gems and I do not wear them. This fragrance is masterpiece i have 2015 batch which is silver cap and also i have 2017 batch which is red cap and i also tried 2019 batch.. now which batch is good... i would say silver cap is best in summers leather note came and in winter vanilla comes in dry down and 2017 batch which is easy to wear more citrusy less leather come in summers you can say more morden version and 2019 batch is water down it is not as good as old batch so try old batch. It's in the same vein as other French classics like Monsieur de Givenchy, Equipage and Chanel Pour Monsieur - extremely elegant but discreet. The sophisticated heart is composed of flowers, precious woods with a warm touch of cinnamon. I am loving it! The EDT is fresher, more vibrant, with stronger citrus. All the notes are very well blended, nothing sticks out too much, overall impression is very pleasant. I tried to be patient and let it rest before sampling but only managed an hour. Actually, there is very little rose in habit rouge.. if any. Very powdery with a strong citrus opening. It was only in the dry-down that I began to see what the great perfume critic (I mean, goddess!) Combining the most ingenious parts from Shalimar and Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet. My itinerary includes road trips, art museums and lumber stores, but suitable for all occasions in which you want to feel coherent & cheerful. Then I kept using it for a few days and the scent just somehow evolved. Jean Paul Guerlain does masculines extraordinarily well and I look forward to his new line so much. As Lanier Smith says, Where what you love.". What I'm left with is a citrusy vanilla wrapped in leather and flower petals. It was released also in an edp concentration, and several flankers. Fragrance -Habit Rouge Eau de Toilette Guerlain. I almost smell violets like Insolence hidden in that dry down. Hmmm. I strongly recommend it but only to those who dare and are prepared to give it some time to shine. But don't forget where you came from! In a strange kind of way, the fact that it has both and I still wear it from time to time tells me what a bona fide genius Jean Paul Guerlain was because I cannot imagine what else would have made me carry on wearing Habit Rouge given that it contains two of the notes that cause me discomfort or even pain when present in sufficient quantity. I cannot add anything to what anyone has said about the composition and presentation of this fragrance - it is all spot on as per my experience: strong citrus opening, leather/flowery middle, and powdery/incense finish. This is definitely someone's signature scent. GHR EDT is the only thing I have or have ever smelled that reminds me of my scent holy grail; Antaeus. Baaa this stuff is crazy good. Oud is exclusive to the EDP only, but possibly the extrait. An affordable fragrance that is so versatile, for suits and a t-shirts, rain or sunshine, morning, afternoon, & evening with excellent performance. It is a rose scented soap with some vanilla body lotion and good mannered woody-resinous density in the background. I get none of the rose, labdanum, cinnamon or leather listed, that could make this more dramatic and complex. My growing intolerance for modern fragrance has further driven me to this rich classic along with my beloved Mitsouko, L'HB, Shalimar, VD Nuit and Arpege. Habit Rouge Eau de Toilette is a metaphor for life itself. Very interesting fragrance to wear, EDT lasted moderate amount of time on my skin, longer on clothes. It smells like a candied sugared lemon/mandarine citrus. this is pretty thick, so it's a nice citrus to wear in the winter time.
